pick up sticks.

sometimes i desire the straightforward

i'm trying to remind myself to remain steady
though bumps and tosses

my heart continues to beat strong
meeting each new challenge

in wrapping up this semester of school
i'll take smaller steps when tiring
while still striving
to plunge into depths of unknowing and exploration

stress and pressure can be lifted
when i keep my spirit fueled
with love
time
and adventure.

have a wonderful weekend,
L

on the path to career(s)...

i'm in career counseling this semester
which has me thinking a lot about my own path
where i'm going and how i got here

i have so many wonderful people
who've been an incredible support
(including people i've never met!)

thank you.

i love where i'm at career-wise (and elsewhere too)
a beginning art therapist
trying to maintain identity as an artist as well

i'm hopeful for bridging these two parts of myself
ever closer
i believe that art heals
and i want my practices to reflect
the genuineness of the artistic process

...me playing in the studio.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Have a lucky day!
In my heritage I may be a smidgen Irish
I'm unsure - a combination of many Euro nationalities.
I'll still wear a hint of green today
avoiding the cheeky pinch.

either way,
...I owe my Irishman a kiss*

Cheers,
Lynsey

*I'll happily plant this kiss on Friday when I see him :)

renewed creative spirit

i've really been enjoying this partial Spring Break the past week

my creative side feels heard and refreshed
plenty of time in the studio
not too neglectful of my study duties
maybe slightly... but it's spring break for goodness sake

i'm ready for Spring to be here
seeing robins bouncing around.
my goal is to snap a proper photo of a flock of robins
i saw a GIANT flock last year. so strangely wonderful

onward this weekend to see Patrick!
my heart feels warm just thinking of it.

A good weekend to you,
Lynsey

p.s. pop in my shops... there's some new goodies around!

celebrating leaps, bounds, and life

today i witnessed the celebration of a woman's 106th birthday
One Hundred and Six Years!

her son was there to celebrate too
a man well into his eighties.

in working with older adults...
yes, I work with people at both ends of the age spectrum

i've learned so very much
what i hear about living a long life is simple:
Stay Happy

there's the secret! ...pass it on

Atelierista Tuesdays: Constructive Collaboration

This week instead of working in the studio,
I've been observing the children in their block/construction area.
The children have taught me so much about themselves
and their ideas in such a short amount of time.
I'm constantly learning as well.

The children approached block area without any blueprints, and created something imaginative and complex! Often the children use ramps to create pathways for marbles to roll down. These paths took a dramatic turn, ramping up and down and managing to travel through right angles and tunnels. They began to explore how blocks with curves could be used as guiding sides on marble paths as well. The marble city involved an incredibly large space, which were eventually marked off for a later presentation. Job well done on collaboration and construction!!

Good Things Come 'Round in Threes

Maybe it's that Patrick was here for the weekend
that i'm feeling particularly more thankful than usual

we walked for hours in the sunshine yesterday
watching owners play with their dogs (young, old, and in between)
and little boys fishing out abandoned freshwater clams
beneath the over-sized rocks we rested on

sure, we were splashed quite a bit
but all in good fun!

When creating and naming these earrings...
i thought to myself "what are sayings about 3's?"
"bad things come in threes."
now who thought of something as dismal as that??

feeling like much more good can be noticed...
I made these the "good things come 'round in 3's" pair

just a little reminder that although your life may feel sometimes
as though it is whipping and swirling
there are plenty of moments where you can look beyond
(or often, right in front of you)
to find something
pleasurable. worthwhile. playful.

Hope you notice many wonderful things this month!
-Lynsey
