set them free

these poor little gals have been patiently waiting
for me to set them free...

i'm not entirely sure why i was reluctant to release these.
maybe i just wanted to spend a little more time with them?
the colors and shapes are so fun!
i loved having them in my work space
but now it's time to allow others to enjoy these pieces.
they're finally listed in my enamel shop !

on strength

personal strength comes in many definitions and forms

i want to exist unwavering;
bold and unabashed.
sometimes my self-critic gets the all too much
of my time.
she whispers words of doubt.
when weak, i listen too closely.

there is another part of me i wish to embrace more often;
a warrior spirit:
kind and sturdy.

i firmly believe that each morning we can make a choice
of who to be
what to believe
plot the course of our day

my 2/3's year resolution is to doubt myself less
to play more
experience what each day offers
and to be more bold.

these earrings are trinkets of strength.
the color reaped from roaring embers.
i will bare similar shields from my lobes
so that when i look in the mirror
i am reminded of the strength i contain
and choose to embrace it

what choices do you make to ensure a good day?

letting things come naturally

i've been playing with these earrings (or the idea of them) for a while now.
making little trinkets for me
with no purpose but to observe and collect
but these popped up 3 weeks ago.
they've finally translated into wearables!
in the meantime i'd been debating on selfishly keeping them

and have decided, that i wish for them to find a new happy dwelling.
as such, these little fellows will be listed later this evening.

on a different note: 4 weeks of classes remain this semester
i'm ready for a little rejuvenation in the studio!

xx,
Lynsey

:: edit ::
i'm having a hard time putting these up.
but will do so tonight! promise!

whew! a great start to Wednesday morning!

glad i woke up early this morning.

had a nice cup of coffee with my mom
we sat outside, still cool from the storms last night
there were appropriate amounts of silence
and conversation
we watched the hummingbirds tend their flowers and sugar water
as we sipped from our mugs

i came inside to find my new enamel earrings were featured on the front page of etsy!
as if that wasn't good enough...
the treasury i made was featured later on!

good start to hump-day!
now it's time to package a few goodies
and then off to see my man :)

hope your Wednesday goes well!

humidity lingering from evening thunderstorms
waves of sun-convected heat

despite the heavy warmth around me,
i can't help but plunge into the studio
(now that i have a little time from school)

here are some creations that have come about
thank goodness for maintaining so cool and refreshing schemes

Good Things Come 'Round in Threes

Maybe it's that Patrick was here for the weekend
that i'm feeling particularly more thankful than usual

we walked for hours in the sunshine yesterday
watching owners play with their dogs (young, old, and in between)
and little boys fishing out abandoned freshwater clams
beneath the over-sized rocks we rested on

sure, we were splashed quite a bit
but all in good fun!

When creating and naming these earrings...
i thought to myself "what are sayings about 3's?"
"bad things come in threes."
now who thought of something as dismal as that??

feeling like much more good can be noticed...
I made these the "good things come 'round in 3's" pair

just a little reminder that although your life may feel sometimes
as though it is whipping and swirling
there are plenty of moments where you can look beyond
(or often, right in front of you)
to find something
pleasurable. worthwhile. playful.

Hope you notice many wonderful things this month!

Happy Birthday to Canada!

Here's to you O' CANADA!
I'll be wearing my sweet little maple leaf necklace all day, and for the occasion have marked it do [today only] by more than 20%! This piece is on special sale for today only to get you in the spirit of our great neighbors to the North!

A little about the pendant, it's a handmade maple leaf, which captures a delightful sense of warmth, color, and beautiful glow of Autumn/Fall. I've done this in a special transparent enamel, allowing a subtle shimmer when the light reflects just right.

Enameling, put in its simplest terms is fusing of glass to metal at temperatures of around 1500 degrees F.
The pendant measures just about .75" (shy of 2mm)and hangs from a 18" sparkling sterling silver chain.

Hope you enjoy the day!

Cheers

gimme fresh & cool

OK, you got it, friends!

a perfect piece of handmade jewelry for all year round, but i'm feeling particularly into this piece's cool refreshing color and shape.

maybe it's the heat index of 105˚

this pendant features an intricately pierced piece of copper, which has been enameled on both sides to ensure it's wearer-friendly! One side in cool aqua blue, the other in a deep oceanic blue.

only one! and in shop now :)

scheduling self time

i suppose it's not exactly fun to read about the ways an artist struggles to create, or find the time to do so, but it's something we all go through, whether you're an artist or not. honest. it's common in many facets of our lives: postponing enjoyment with daily busyness

how do we find the time?
how often do we say "i'll do that tomorrow." "let me finish this one thing i have to do first." "i don't have time to do that."

when graduate school began i fooled myself to thinking i would have endless time to also create. i've learned that i need to MAKE to to MAKE THINGS! something inside myself is fulfilled in the process of creating something new --- in translating a sketch (my sketchbook has been bursting) to fruition.

so how do i get there? how do i take my sketches and make them reality instead of paper dreams? seems easy enough, right?

well, i'm going to schedule studio time. while that seems basic enough, it means that i have a designated time where i don't have to do anything else but create. by allotting myself that specific time, i'm giving it importance, and making it something i can't put off or allow to be taken over by the daily grind of school, work, and life.

what can you expect? NEW STUFF!!! :)

... intricacies ... metalwork + enamel

good morning/good night depending on where you are at the moment :)

i'm being an insomniac... probably not good since i have a morning meeting and classes from 9am-5pm tomorrow, but that's not something to worry about till then.

i was just too excited not to pop on here and let you all know some happenings in my shop

slowly and surely i'm introducing some of my most favorite creations in the "Art Nouveau" section in my shop. there you can find these intricately focus jewelry pieces which have all been enameled. (some are even reversible!)

they're unlike anything else i've done. the details are unmatched.
an elegant silhouette. nothing too complicated. just a perfect handmade piece for any occasion.

of course i had to make some "test" pieces for myself! i've worm my on more formal occasions & casually... pretty versitle.

as always, i'd love your input too
hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Lynsey
